The Journey Begins

My name is Kayla. It’s been a long time since I’ve jumped in the writer’s chair and I hope you’ll bear with me as I navigate this journey!

I was born and raised in Northern California. I’ve lived in a few parts up and down the state trying to find my place. I kinda failed, to be honest. I never found that place where I was just feeling “OMG this is where I belong.” And it took me a long time to realize that was okay. When you’re bumbling about your 20’s with a debilitating mental illness looming over everything you do, it’s hard to even like yourself a little, never mind finding a place to set down some roots. I pushed myself and pressured myself in ways that made me lose my way. I hit rock bottom, but that is a tale for another day.

It got to the point where I had a choice to make. I can try harder, get out of my comfort zone, and see what else I am capable of. I was lucky enough to meet someone who made we feel wanted, not needed. There is a big difference. We went and broke some statistics and made a beautiful little creature and decided that we wanted to get a little crazy. We vacationed several times in Portland, Oregon and absolutely fell in love with the views, the people, and the overall vibe. This was where we belonged.

Join me on an adventure in settling in a new state, with a new(ish) human, creating an amazing home, and feeling like your best self.
